Are Quantum Physics and God Compatible? Oh Yeah! -By Brother Chuck
By Brother Chuck
Does faith in God have to be blind faith? Can a Christian's faith actually be backed up with something that has a little, oomph behind it? Something like overwhelming, scientific evidence, that supports the existence of God, and creation? Something called quantum physics? Quantum physics explains how everything works. It is a practical utilization of mathematics that describe the behavior of matter, and energy at the smallest levels. Quantum physics is necessary to understand the properties of solids, atoms, nuclei, particles, and light. Can quantum physics actually prove God's existence? You decide! My mind's already made up.
First I must reject the atheist's claim, that a Christian's faith is blind faith. The term blind faith suggest that one believes in something without any evidence. That's hardly the case for Christian faith. However, faith is important to God. After all we are saved through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Jesus said, "I am the light of the world." (John 8:12)
Remember the preceding verse. Light plays an important role in quantum physics.
It's Not Blind Faith
So what is faith, exactly? Merriam-Webster defines faith as: "strong belief or trust in someone or something." Yeah, that's pretty good. For the Christian, that someone or something is God. But there's much more to it than that. There are many things God has deemed important and necessary for us to know and understand. So He had these things written down for us by "holy men of God... as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." (2 Peter 1:21). Faith is one of those things. God has deemed faith essential for us to understand. God defines faith this way: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen " (Hebrews 11:1). Notice that's not blind faith. That's evidential faith. Now think about this, God has divinely dealt each one of us "a measure of faith" (Romans 12:3). Regardless of rather you're a believer or an unbeliever, God Himself has divinely given you a gift of faith. And that faith comes by "hearing the Word of God" (Romans 10:17). We are "saved through faith" (Ephesians 2:8-9). And finally, it is by faith, God has chosen that His followers will live out their lives (Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17). So you can see, faith is important to God.
I suggest you read Hebrews 11:1-40 (NLT) in its entirety. It's an enjoyable and exciting read and it will increase your measure of faith. Hebrews 11:1-40 (NLT) is often referred to as the hall of fame of faith. Here you'll read about great triumphs of faith in action. You'll see how by faith, we understand. You'll see faith at the dawn of history, the faith of the patriarchs, and how by faith they overcame. You'll read, "By faith Abel... By faith Enoch... By faith Noah... By faith Abraham... By faith Sarah... By faith Isaac... By faith Joseph ... By faith Moses... By faith the walls of Jericho fell down..." Hebrews 11:1-40 (NLT), check it out! You'll be glad you did.
Did these heroes of faith have
blind faith? Absolutely not! They believed God and He delivered time
and time again. Their faith wasn't blind faith at all. Their faith
was based upon the promises of God and how He fulfilled those
promises in the past and this predicted that God would do the same in
the future. There faith was based on the evidence of fulfilled promises. Keep a prayer journal and always write down when God has answered your prayer. Then you'll be able to go back and remember those answered prayers and have faith, that He'll do it again.
One could write pages upon pages on the subject of Biblical faith. God requires faith, and He has much to say on the subject. But what about science? What about reason, logic and understanding and not just faith alone. Some don't believe faith and science are compatible. On the contrary, I believe God created science and our inquisitive minds. On many occasions the science of archaeology have confirmed events, places, and people in the Bible. Numerous discoveries were found after skeptics suggested Scriptural accounts were fictitious.
"God is light and in Him is no darkness at all" (1 John 1:5).
Quantum physics is the study of matter and energy at the very smallest level. Quantum physics confirms that what we can see is made up of unseen particles that we cannot see.
"It is by faith that we understand that the
universe was created by God's word, so that what can be seen was made
out of what cannot be seen." (Hebrews 11:3 GNT)
Quantum physics confirms that everything is made up of tiny bits or quanta particles, atoms and molecules all held together by light. That's right, light! It's light that keeps electrons bound to the nuclei of atoms, and atoms bound together to make molecules and matter. All forms of matter are held together by light.
"Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness." (Genesis 1:3-4)
Light was the first thing God made before He made anything else. He had to make light first, because light is essential for creation. Light is the force that binds everything together. After God made light, He made the sky, the earth, the ocean, the sun, the moon, all living creatures and finally, God made man.
"And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together." (Colossians 1:17 ESV)
